The ISA Water & Wastewater Industries Division (WWID) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2022 WWID Student Scholarships. The scholarships are given out to promote higher learning and to encourage students to pursue technical careers in the municipal water/wastewater sector. This year we had over 43 applicants for the 2022 scholarship.
This year’s recipients are Elizabeth McKenna and Aniruddha Atre. Each will receive a $1000 USD scholarship prize to help with their school costs. Please join us in congratulating this year’s winners!

I was excited by the news of my selection and am grateful for the support from the ISA WWID, which will contribute to the completion of my studies.”
Biography: Elizabeth McKenna is a third-year student at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada who is currently completing a degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. In 2021, she had the opportunity to do automation and system integration as a SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) developer co-op student for the drinking water utility at City of Guelph Environmental Services. Elizabeth enjoyed her time working with the SCADA team at Guelph Water, and will be returning for a second SCADA developer co-op term with City of Guelph in the summer of 2022. In addition to her studies, Elizabeth is also a world-class competitive synchronized skater with the team at Nexxice based out of Burlington, Ontario. She regularly skates as part of the Canadian National team at various international events and the World Championships.

Biography: Aniruddha Atre is in his final year of Mechanical Engineering at VIT Pune (India), and is hoping to pursue a Master’s degree in Robotics. Currently he is in the midst of an internship at Mercedes-Benz R&D in India, where he is working on traction motor design for electric vehicles. During his studies, Aniruddha has undertake several robotic projects focused on the water sector, including a water monitoring system, robotic water cleaning robot, and an automated beach cleaning system. He looks forward to a future career in the water sector.
How to Apply for the next year’s 2023 Scholarship
2023 ISA WWID Student Scholarship: Applications will be due January 31, 2023.
The 2023 Scholarship Application form will be available in the fall of 2022.
