About the Speaker
Carey Hidaka is an IBM worldwide Client Solutions Professional in IBM Software Group, with experience as a consultant in the Smarter Water Management business development team and mobile/wireless services. He has 29 years of information technology experience and practiced for nine years as a consulting environmental engineer and registered Professional Engineer (PE, State of Illinois) where he focused on water resource planning and water and wastewater treatment plant designs and implementations for public and industrial sector clients.
Carey leads many IBM Smarter Water Management projects, applying information technology solutions (visualization and analytics/optimization) to water data aggregated from disparate sources (including supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, web services, sensors, and instrumentation) to create new insights for monitoring operations and making better business decisions. He is a subject matter expert in the development of Smarter Water solutions as a part of IBM’s Smarter Planet initiative.
Carey is a certified IBM consultant. He has a Master of Business Administration degree with finance specialization from the University of Chicago, a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is also a member of the American Water Works Association.
